My name is Matthew Turland. I'm a husband, father of three, web developer, geek and casual gamer. I currently reside in Duson, LA.
I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science in December 2006. I am also the first and only registered PHP 5 Zend Certified Engineer in the state of Louisiana. I'm currently debating whether or not to attend graduate school once my wife graduates. If I do, it will most likely be for a Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
I am currently employed as Lead Programmer for surgiSYS LLC and work with PHP and MySQL on a daily basis. I also serve as Vice President for the Baton Rouge Oracle User Group and recently spearheaded the effort to organize the Acadiana Open Source Group.
In my spare time, I enjoy being active in the open source community. I like learning new languages and have become relatively comfortable with Python and Java as well as PHP. You can find me under the nick Elazar on the Freenode IRC network, most often in the #phpc channel.
